Closer: Commonwealth vs. Kenzo Minami.
For Closer, an exhibition held at the Espeis Gallery New York, Commonwealth presented a field of seventy two deep black tiles, a topological surface upon which we projected detailed graphic line work by Kenzo Minami. The 'Closer wall', was mounted onto an exuberant black-and-white wallpaper designed by Minami, thereby inverting the usual sense of figure and ground. Against this void-like Richlite field, Red deLeon created a series of photographic portraits which amplify the project's inherent themes of hardness and delicacy.'Closer' was the second in the Maxalot currated, 'Vs. Series'.
Exhibition: November 2007.
